A large amount of this is feel good retort designed to be an inspiration speech.

But there is but one linchpin: what about roads?

Look around you and ask, “who builds the roads that we use everyday?”

Now, let me ask you about how you would make a business plan that could profit from you being in charge of the existence of roads. That you could make money from having a decent road system.

It really does not exist. For reasons that society has faced, and now has the community tool box work to have there.

We are at a point where there are several industries that are of a similar nature as roads are.

We all profit indirectly from decent roads being there.

I would go further and suggest that housing, clothing, mental health, education, and physical health are all just like roads in their general directly unprofitable nature. They are indirectly profitable when all people have them — but you cannot have a business actually work and function and have those needs put into place.

Somebody told me when I was younger, “you make more money selling people what they want, rather than what they need.”

So as much as I’m all for this power trip of “let’s get together and succeed where many businesses cannot succeed due to the nature of these ventures” or alternatively, “let’s get together and make another municipality government to act as a redundancy to the others around us”… but… this is not a plan that will go to far.

As per me being a whiner about asking for help:

* Have you ever paved a road?

* Have you ever made your own clothing?

* Have you ever tried to construct a small to large structure?

* Have you ever had to make a splint for a broken bone?

* Have you ever had to deal with large gash wounds?

* Have you ever had to sleep outside in the cold?

* Have you ever had to defend yourself from physical harm from several people?

There is more on that list of things that people should not have to experience. The thing is… the more items on that list somebody has gained… the less they think somebody asking for help is a bad thing.

Guess what?

The government is suppose to be our community toy chest. It is something that people are suppose to put money into, so that things we need — but cannot make money directly from — can exist.

I tell you… to ask yourself about roads.
