I shall read the library

So, while on my way to a place I can sit down and plug in my laptop while I use the library for wireless Internet access, I accidentally walked onto the fourth floor. I have a bit of Tetraphobia so I generally avoid the fourth floor.

It makes it even more annoying that the materials on learning different languages are on that floor. From the language tapes on compact disc to the phrase books, grammer books, dictionaries and what not.

I walked by some books on fashion. Which caught my eye — and were something I’d probably not search for directly.

Then I started thinking… I’ve actually marathoned through entire television shows several times. I’ve done the thing where I’ve run out of things to watch on various streaming services — and debated watching shows a second time around. I can literally go through large amounts of material, just bit by bit — and eventually have gone through all of it.

I figured… rather than marathon mindless video nonsense until I’m out of mindless video nonsense… or marathoning porn until I’ve run out (which… I’ve done three times. I’ve ran out of internet porn three separate times)… I shall read the library.

By which I mean, the entire library. I shall just go around saying it like, “I once read the library” because I am way too fond of understatements.

This shall occur while I am working on learning different languages and what not.

The main strategy will be to grab books from various sections (not one section)… and try to read through those. You know, to understand their contents. Then try to work on getting it so I’ve read books from every section of the library.

After which I’m going to start favouring certain sections, and doing what I can to go through and read as much as I can from them — while avoiding getting burned out on that section of the library. Eventually rotating through enough sections that I can ready myself for the final stint.

Where I go from the lowest end of the Dewey Decimal System, and pick up the books I’ve missed. All the way up to the upper end. While doing this, I shall go to the upper end of the Dewey Decimal System… and pick up anything I’ve missed on the way down.

This might take a bit of effort — as there are new books added regularly to the library. I’m also not taking the fiction section or the children’s section into account. The foreign languages section I will tackle after I’ve learned the languages for them.

Much like people who watch a lot of movies will eventually be “seen it, seen it — eh, maybe.” (it was even worse in the old days of the Dinosaurs when we have Blockbuster-saurus Rex, king of the video rentals showing up. With other video rentals also being around as well… you could eventually work through the entire library of those).

So yeah… call me crazy — as this plan sounds kind of nuts. Okay… it sounds REALLY nuts… but I shall take my previous experience of watching as much material as I can find until I have nothing else to watch… and apply it to my mission.

I shall read the library. The ENTIRE library.
